It’s Winter. A time for yin, reflection, inwardness, dreaming and rest.

AND YET: we’re often staring at our screens, moving through a million frames a minute, taking in TOO MUCH.

Winter is my favorite time to be more disciplined with my tech use, and I am ready for a break.

Although I often take breaks from tech habits on my own, it always feels more enjoyable and supportive to do it alongside others.

Last January I guided a group container version of CLEARING THE FIELD that included zoom calls and a whatsapp group thread where I offered a Question Of The Day for self inquiry and reflection, and we shared other resources with one another.

This year, I want to do something different.

As I myself feel oversaturated with Zoom calls and whatsapp threads, I’m offering something more personal and private this time.

1:1 connection - you and me, as we adjust our tech habits for the month of February.

My personal February commitment is zero social media, and no phone in the bedroom, ever. Your commitment will be unique to you, your needs and desires. I will be there to hold your prayers for your month of sacred pause from the distractions that do not serve you.

Let’s do this.

My Tech Journey

11 years ago I had a wakeup call about the negative aspects of my relationship with my smartphone, and did my first digital detox.  1 month - a flip phone, and zero internet use.  It rocked my world and gave me a solid touchstone of what it feels like to have more space from the screens.  We’ll call that the “opening ceremony” to a decade of exploring and experimenting with my tech habits.

Real Talk: I’ve been around the block and I know this terrain well.  I have explored a myriad of digital detoxes and lifestyle shifts over the years.  AND: I’m JUST as susceptible as you to the addictive nature of social media.

It is for this exact reason that I am so passionate about taking regular pauses, to break the cycles that are inevitable to fall into over time.

Taking extended breaks from social media has been the most impactful way for me to cultivate a more balanced relationship with it.

I step away often and with ease, which makes way for so much goodness in my life! Deeper connection with myself and engagement with my environment, creative blossoming and generally a feeling of greater wellbeing.

Don’t get me wrong. . . I LOVE instagram! I’m a total internet humor fangirl, and am so grateful for the inspiration, resources and opportunities that have come through social media.

However, I DO NOT think it’s healthy to be on there all the time.

I’m here to advocate for and normalize hitting the pause button, coming back into the room and into our bodies. Here, Now, and feeling it.

I look so forward to being with you in this process!

FAQs

  • Omg so many reasons! Yours will be unique to you depending on your relationship to it. I could list off a bunch of reasons like “improved mental health! enhanced focus and productivity! brain reset! improved sleep! creativity boost!”...but Real Talk: It’s a bit much isn’t it? A bit off too much of everything all the time. Taking a break from social media is part of becoming more autonomous about what you are welcome into your personal field. Winter is a wonderful time to be more inward and consume less external output so we can tune into what our soul is whispering…

  • You can totally do this on your own!

That being said, it can be powerful to bring our habits into the light to be seen, supported and held by another.

It’s so easy to fall off of new patterns and habits when we’re trying to do them by ourselves. It’s often easier (and more fun!) to stick to things when we are receiving the support and encouragement along the way

I’ll be your enthusiastic (and understanding) cheerleader, going through the process right alongside you!

My hope is that this supported experience helps you drop into sacred pauses on your own in the future with more ease and immediacy any time you could use a break.

  • Part of this experience will be making your own! This is a BUILD YOUR OWN ADVENTURE.

If you have no professional reason you need to be online, I recommend completely abstaining for the month. I will also be kicking my phone out of my bedroom for the month.

In your first call we can discuss what types of boundaries would feel supportive for YOU at this time!

  • Omg it has happened to me so many times!! Your transparency is welcome here. This is all a learning and growing experience and there’s no doing it perfectly.

Logging on (or wanting to) is always an *excellent* opportunity to notice and observe what’s compelling you to reach for social media, and get curious about the deeper feelings underneath.

It’s all part of the process and you are welcome no matter what.

  • The first few days you’ll probably find yourself unconsciously and compulsively going to click on the app that’s no longer there. It’s in this phase that I become more aware of a sort of anxious energy in my system that goes along with that behavior.

This will smooth out in it’s own time as you settle more into the experience.

Throughout the month you will likely experience a lot of different things! As you’re recalibrating to the space, you may feel bored, anxious, sad. You may feel more peaceful, relaxed, creative, inspired, happy.

Just like #LIFEITSELF and #EVERYDAY, this too is going to be a non-linear journey.

This is about experiencing life more fully. Deep welcoming breaths to all the waves as they come!

  • Leading up to February, focus on your AWARENESS of your tech habits.

Observe when and why you reach for your phone, and what happens to you when you’re on social media.

Maybe right now you’re like “I’M READY NOW.” - if that’s you, log off and delete baby!! We will join you with enthusiasm on Jan 1!
