It’s Friday night, I’m laying on a sheepskin on the floor, candles lit with hot tea on tap by my side. Music playing (this), feeling relaxed, and…looking at this picture for the past 10 minutes or so with a smile on my face, trying to figure out what I should/can say, what I want to say, and how to ever begin. I’m back from spending a week in the bay, where I participated in an experiential training oriented toward connecting with ones preverbal experience through a unique medicine journey combined with ample supportive nurturing touch. 99% of me is joyfully speechless about the experience and what I’m digesting/integrating — but I’m showing up with my 1% to continue in this practice of sharing — with — you. Dear Humanity, please oh please let’s work out these kinks in the system that perpetuate the harm, please oh please let’s find our way back home to our true loving nature. Harmful acts in therapeutic spaces have put us in a position where most therapists never even put a gentle hand on the shoulder of a crying client. Harmful acts in psychedelic spaces have sharply informed how much touch is deemed appropriate in journey space. Harmful acts have skewed healing space to a state of rigid overcorrection. I am a fierce protector, I have fierce boundaries, and I do not tolerate harmful touch done to anyone, ever. But MAN. HOT DAMN. HALLELUJAH. Being held figuratively and literally through the full arc of the medicine with all the reverence and care… This journey did not knock my socks off. If this journey had anything to do w socks, my socks stayed on the whole time, living up to their fullest potential as Sacred Keepers of The Coziest Embrace. For those of us on the medicine path, as a journeyer or a guide, every experience will offer its gifts, but some journeys will in some way, leave us never the same again. For me, as I rest now and digest in the afterglow, every cell in my body is resting in awe of this initiation into a way of relating with this sacred work that is as me as mu can be. with my socks very much on, in awe and appreciation, mari ♡
