Dearly Beloveds, There are times when life is kind of just puttering along and feels same ol same ol par for the course the yooshj and perhaps a li’l humdrum… My eyes are wide awake as I experience a moment in my life when that is not the case. The Arrival…but first, let’s revisit The Buildup One year ago I declared “I’m moving to the Hudson Valley next Spring/Summer”. Spoiler Alert: It’s late summer and The LA Mu Zone is fully intact. The blankets, pillows and candles have not in fact gone on their roadtrip of a lifetime. As Winter crept on and I in no way felt ready for such a move, I was like Oh Noooooo My Comfort Zone Tendencies Will Be the Death Of Meeee BUT WAIT in walked: Let’s Find Some Middle Ground and so I committed to a 3-month chapter, which really is a solid amount of time, and let’s be honest makes a whole lotta sense before what will be the biggest change of my life to date. I’m here to get to know the region (I spent only 4 nights here last Summer), connect with community, clarify which towns I’d like to live near, and be in the sweet, once-in-a-relationship experience of the initial getting-to-know it-with-fresh-eyes-and-an-unjaded-heart. AND SO OMG Being the Gemini Mind that I am, I have spent the past 6 months or so obsessively processing this 3-month stint, putting a whole lotta meaning into it (and also I would say a bit of pressure)…preparing my house for my own subletter was a big deal, tending to my clients, tying up loose ends, organizing places to stay + a rental car + etc etc… and on August 3rd, I was picked up by the chattiest Lyft driver of my life (psst Lyft supports the ACLU, Uber funds Tr*mp) and I was swept to the airport to Fly High In The Sky toward a proper turn of a page in The Book Of Mu. Here I Am I’m 25 minutes outside of Woodstock — and if you’re familiar w the area, I’m 1.5 miles down the road from Phoenicia. It is indeed the most magical time of year here, and I am DRINKING in the nature. I’m having a wonderful experience, and have been excited to share with you — in fact, after writing this newsletter for years and archiving on personal website, I’m considering switching over to Substack because I get sooooo much value from reading people write the real real, and I think this transition period I’m in, full to the brim with layers and identity shifts…could be valuable to people beyond my personal network. Gonna think on that — but I’m excited to share what this has been like — and for TODAY, this is going to be a voice memo (personal podcast) that I recorded on August 6th. I haven’t listened back to it, it’s 20 minutes, recorded on my current neighborhood walk — in true classic Mari Mu Memo form, there will be tangents, there is background noise, I may be huffing and puffing, and you are coming with me as I pinball through my mind.
