If you’ve ever knocked at my front door, this has been the quote that greets you. My home has donned this quote since I moved in over 7 years ago. A few min ago I came in from my walk-around-the-block before it gets to be 97 degrees today, the sun was shining onto the words in some sort of special morning way and I could feel whoosh of resonance in my being as…this is one of those life chapters in which I feel acutely aware that what used to make me come alive - isn’t currently. and new interests are rising in my consciousness. Right now I’m sitting on my back deck listening to a symphony of morning birds, drinking iced coffee (a special and rare treat!) and eating homemade banana bread drizzled with tahini and maple syrup. We’re in our first heat wave of the year and I like how the impending heat ushers me outside in these early hours to enjoy the temperate air before the afternoon swelt. (I’m considering our first heat wave as a ‘good reason’ to get hopped on coffee) I feel like a peony before it opens, layers packed. Wheels spinning, processing surrenders of identities and plans and intentions that don’t fit me anymore, and feeling packed full with ideas and wonderings of what’s to come. There’s a lot going on in here. I have about 5 different newsletters on the tips of my fingers in every moment - the subjects aren’t related, except I am their common denominator. I think I wrote a few months ago that I learned about my human design type (mani-geni) that not only am I meant to change careers and interests over time in my life, but rather than being mono-focused I’m meant to be doing like 5 things at a time. This has been something major for me that I’m continuing to embrace. Sometimes I look at someone on instagram who’s like….a nervous system expert, for example. and I’m like….don’t you get bored? posting about the same thing all the time? talking about the same thing all the time!? or yoga teachers teaching classes for years. Same type of thoughts. I can so NOT relate, that I become genuinely fascinated, and find some sense of relaxation in that yes, some people are more suited for honed in expertise and monofocus and some of us can’t help but be wild and with some chamelon spirit within us. I often wish I was the other kind of person, wouldn’t that be easier? to just become an expert in one thing and be paid well to be said expert and call it a day? Well oh well sugar cookie cuz that ain’t me.
