oh Kiki, before anything else I want to start with the block because that’s actually what’s here. So, my last email, why i do what i do how i do it, shared about the thoughtful choices I’ve made in designing my craniosacral sessions. I loved writing it! and at the end I promised my next email would be a similar share but focused on the deeper aspect of my private practice: my journey offering. …and then there it was - the block. Is my free spirit THAT opposed to being told what to do?!! even if it’s me doing the telling and the thing I’m gonna do is write about something so personally meaningful to me? Well, a little. and also: I’ve had some REALLY interesting experiences over the past couple weeks that are offering more current-moment-inspiration for writing. - I met a new friend that I’m going to write a whole email about because I’ve been so floored by his mission and devotion to his calling. and I went to a 40 person private retreat at a gorgeous 22,000 acre wildlife preserve in Florida which ended up being quite an experience for me - it gave me so much to reflect upon. (spoiler alert: this was not a retreat focused on emotional work but I still managed to be the sole person to have a public emotional breakdown in front of everyone, expand my capacity for vulnerability, and ultimately, at the closing fire ceremony as we each dropped tobacco into the center fire and shared a single word that expressed what we were leaving with, mine was EMPOWERMENT.) So, this is just to say, my mind has been elsewhere as I’ve been immersing in the here and now - BUT/AND: I’m also realizing that as I prepare to share about my journey offering, I have to pause, as I can feel how my relationship to this aspect of my practice is truly in the fires of transformation at the moment and so I need to give some pause and let my current truth forge the words that ring true. I didn’t become a journey guide in response to the emergence of The Modern Psychedelic Renaissance which is synonymous with clinical trials studying sacred journeywork as a treatment option for mental health challenges. I stepped into this work from my own path as a curious explorer, going in without any intentions or attachment to outcome other than Be With What Comes and from that place, my personal practice of going into expanded states provided profound access to insight, catharsis and all sorts of inner recalibration. I’ve been sitting with people as they lay back and go in for the past 7 years. Obviously I’ve changed a lot myself in these 7 years. Each person who I’ve had the honor to accompany as they explore their inner landscape has tenderized my heart and time and time again helped me throw out any sense of ‘the answers’ and lean more into the questions and the feelings. I’m in a place now where I no longer feel suited to work with clients who are coming to journeywork because of their depression or anxiety symptoms. This feels big for me - because a lot of people who have come to me through the years come for this. I still very much welcome people who are experiencing these symptoms, but I feel that being who I am, and the way my own inner personal work continues to evolve and mature, I feel that I can be of best service to people who are leading with “I want to know myself more deeply, I want to journey as an expression of embodying courage and humility, I want to open myself in new ways”….
