I was not expecting that an idea to hold space for a communal sacred pause from social media would end up taking me on my own psychedelic journey through holding polarities, expanding into new creative expressions, and finger by finger loosening my grip on the original ‘intention’ for going into it, and showing me layers of learning and invitations for evolution.

First of all, I made my first ever instagram reel last week. and then 2 more. Here’s the most recent one.

I will admit, it’s been fun.

It’s been some years, but I used to make A LOT of ridiculous videos and send them to my friends, but never went public with them. I made them just for the pure fun and play of it. So many friends would say I should have a youtube channel, but I never felt open to it because I knew myself, and knew that I didn’t want to add the elements that public exposure would bring to the play.

There was a safety and an intimacy to sending vids to my friends - no worrying about how many likes something was getting, no worrying about being judged - for heavens sake, I was sending them to literally my biggest fans! The people that love me the MOST!

AND SO.

we can certainly call it ironic that it took a social media cleanse to draw out the content creator in me…

but let’s move on from the irony and just make room for them both, cuz that’s the whole point.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,

I am not here to villainize social media. I’m a huge fan.

I just don’t think it’s healthy to be on there all the time.

I am SOOOOOO grateful that I’ve cultivated a personal practice of stepping away, regularly and consistently.

My relationship with it HAS changed DRAMATICALLY, and honestly it’s taken some years to get to this point but I feel such an immense feeling of relief, comparing how I relate to it now vs then.

Instagram holes can happen for me too now still! But their frequency is so much lower and for this I am grateful….to myself. ♡

Sharing publicly about this IS vulnerable, and I am here doing so because I know how common it is for others to also grapple with too-much-time-on-social-media or “the screens” in general…and so I’m putting out a hand for anyone who wants to join me in this experiment, and see what happens when we unplug the grid, quiet the noise, and come back into our present space and time.

When I said Yes to the vision of Clearing The Field, I honestly didn’t fully register that I was, for the first time ever, doing a public launch.

Only after I ‘released’ it, did I realize, oh shit, if I want people to have this experience, I need to sit up straight, be willing to do things I’ve never done before (like write multiple emails in a row about the same topic while I promote something I am charging for and make instagram videos),

soooo…here I am.

I also went into this thinking that this would be a one-time project, and then I’d move onto the next….but as I sit with it (and sit up straight), I realize that Clearing The Field is in fact just the pilot. It’s my first launch in general, and my first foray into digital liberation work with others.

All I can say is, I know, because I do it, how good it is for the soul to step away from social media. This knowing is the back support that’s helping me row this boat down the river and share the good word with the people.
