It was 9 years ago when I first sat for someone else’s journey. I sat for my friend B in the place I used to live. There was such an innocence to that experience. (and such beauty in that innocence). I was already in a regular practice of solo journeying. The only facilitated experiences I’d had at that point were with ibogaine and 5meo. All my mushroom journeys were by myself — I had cultivated a personal relationship with mushrooms — sacred without being called sacred, intentional without setting any. I approached my experiences with a natural reverence :: a blend of humility, curiosity, trust and openness. I don’t really remember how it came to be that I sat for my B’s journey. I imagine I was telling her about a recent experience and her curiosity was piqued, but was understandably apprehensive to journey solo. This is actually how my journey guide/companion/doula practice began: So innocently, there were no results in mind, I simply wanted to support people who didn’t feel comfortable solo journeying to get to explore what I was exploring. I’ll never forget B’s journey. Eternal gratitude for a experience that I didn’t know yet would be a doorway to a new path. ♡ As I stepped into the role professionally amidst the rising of “the psychedelic renaissance” intertwined with the emergence of the medical model, it’s been sometimes challenging to navigate where I belong in the field at large. I’m not a therapist. I’m not a shaman. I’d always rather speak the honest truth that who I am is an ever-evolving-straighttalking-streetsmart-sensorysensitive-ambiancemagician-tenderhearted-flowerfairy but it seems that in order to be perceived as legitimate, I’m supposed to have a more uniformed title. Well, day by day, I’m throwing that to the wind, and finding my way to even more honest expression. ♡ This past February, I had one of my favorite experiences — I tend to have a few of them a year — when a vision instantaneously downloads into my being — as if I were struck by inspiration lightning. (UGH such a good feeling!!!) Literally - in one moment - my first group container: the concept, the design, the name. Reverence In Motion was conceived, and soon enough it was born! After years of sitting for private journeys, I created a group experience that vibrates at my current frequency. In my private work, we meet for a prep session a week before the journey for a couple hours. I am adamant about spending time in person together before journey day. We explore what’s alive for you and what your intentions are for your journey. Alternatively, in Reverence In Motion, we are gathering regularly for 2 months before your journey. and not just us! A group of other beautiful women who are here to heal, grow and evolve together. and instead of just focusing our time on your wounds/healing aspirations/journey intentions…. we instead, are orienting our attention toward a more full bodied ritualistic approach. Every 2 weeks, we bring our collective attention to a different area of life and create our own practices/rituals to weave into day to day life that help bring us in to deeper presence and connection to self, spirit and earth. (or whatever suits YOUR fancy!) So when it comes time to journey: you’ve been in sacred practices that build upon one another while simultaneously feeling the profound support of sisterhood surrounding you. It’s beautiful. The women from the first round didn’t want our container to close, so we’ve continued traveling together for the next 6 months. I’m offering a Fall group, beginning on September 21.
